1930-1960
The 1930's and 40's saw a huge rise in the popularity of swing music and "crooning", most notably artist like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Glenn Miller. The 1950's were full of rock and roll, blues, and R&B; with Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry topping the charts. Country, beat rock, and folk music dominated the 1960's along with popular British groups such as the Beatles.

1. Bing Crosby was easily recognized by his deep, rich voice. Crosby was not only a popular singer, but he stared in movies as well; such as the 1954 comedy/romance White Chirstmas, which also stared Rosemary Clooney, another popular singer of the time.
2. One of the best selling musicians of all time, Frank Sinatra sold over 150 million records world wide. Frank Sinatra sang a wide variety of music such as swing and blues.
3. Known as the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley was constantly topping the charts during the 50's. Like Bing Crosby, Elvis also stared in many movies which featured his songs, such as the 1962 film Girls! Girls! Girls!
4. Moving into the 1960's, British music began making its way to America (known as the British Invasion), particularly the Beatles, who caused a revolution in popular music, and are still revered today as one of the best bands of all time.
